Ohhhh! That dog!

Okay, we have a dog named Pugsley. He's 1/2 Shih Tzu, 1/2 Lhasa Apso. A really cute mix - shaggy when longer, short snout, underbite. Sits on his haunches and holds out a paw to get attention.

Also really stubborn. I could never housebreak him or "make" him do anything. I think he would roll over and let you beat him to death before he would do what you want.

Weird too. When you give him food, he will stand there and wait until you go away. He will not eat when you are watching. He loves bread and will stash pieces for later.

He's 13 years old this past spring. His hearing and eyesight is about 50/50. Just a few teeth left. Has a wart on the middle of his head.

Mentally, he is getting senile. He is an outside dog with a small doghouse hidden away on the front porch since he is determined to stay there no matter what the weather. He runs in whenever the door is opened to plop down close to a vent for heating or cooling.

Now back to the senillity. He sits every morning at the door waiting for someone to open it. When S leaves for work, he thinks it is time for everyone to be up and moving. If we don't let him in pretty quickly he goes into panic mode. He howls and cries like someone is pulling his nails out one by one.

We don't let him in right away because we don't want to encourage that behavior, right? No matter, he can carry on for as long as we can tolerate it. He moves from door to door.

Today is Saturday. All the kids spent the night with someone. Ahhhh! That's rare. We went to bed late and we can sleep late. No rush, no where to be. We might even spend some "quiet time" together in the morning hours - no kids right?
