Crazy Busy!

I'm not complaining because the time has gone by relatively quickly since we found out we had I600 approval but it has been crazy busy. It seems like we've been in constant motion.

We've had soccer tournaments. We are finally done - finishing 2nd in our division. Go Falcons!

Lucas has played goalie for many years. He has quite a reputation for being exceptionally good.

Noah has had his last Upward flag football game. They only won half their games but he didn't care. He said he was just having fun.

Noah got to play on the same team as one of his best friend's, Jon David. They have so much fun together.

One of S's many job responsibilities is taking care of out of town visitors doing business with his company. He got an unexpected text from a guy from the China office that he was going to be in town. Umm, that night. My hubby never gets texts - doesn't keep up with his cell a lot of the time. When he found the text we just had a couple of hours before picking the guy up at the airport.

S is in regular contact online with this guy and has met him once before. He reads english fluently but speaks a lot less. Bless his heart - he trys so hard and gets frustrated at his difficulty in communicating. His name is Ringo. An oddly unchinese name in my book. He's young, late 20's. Very kind, polite, and loves our kids.

We've spent time together every day for the last week. The food here is beginning to bother his stomach so I offered to make him an American/Chinese meal. He was touched and so thrilled! He said, "Mmmmm, rice!"

As it turned out, he made us an authentic Chinese meal in our home. We just did the shopping for him. It was absolutely delicious!

We've thoroughly enjoyed this visit. My only regret is the difficulty we have in understanding each other. There is so much I would love to ask about his culture, his extensive travels. He was in Bali a couple of months ago and showed me some of his footage on his camcorder. So interesting.
He's created a facebook so he can stay in contact with the kids.

Last night we had a Geography Presentation and Meal with our homeschool group. Of course, our country of choice was Haiti. We shared some of what we've learned over the last almost 3 years. We made some wonderful Haitian dishes: Diri ak Pwa - red beans and rice, Mayi Moulin - cornmeal porridge, and Labouyi Banan - porridge from green plantains. We loved them all!

Here's Noah and myself doing our part of the presentation.

Okay, that's just some of what's been going on. It's been good though because it's kept my mind occupied. Just what I needed right now.
