Changes

Change is inevitable and sometimes very sad. One of the next changes we will be implementing our lives is the closing of our AKC chihuahua breeding program. We have had chihuahuas for many years now but we have kept our breeding program small. We love our dogs dearly and it will be hard to see those go on to new homes that we decide to let go.

We have been considering this option for quite some time. There are two reasons we have decided that the time is right. The first being that our Lexi is graduating high school this spring. She will be starting college and working more hours in her part time job. Over the years she has totally taken over the day to day care of the dogs ie... the feeding, potty breaks, cleaning their area, weekly bathing etc. For this she gets a percentage of the sales of the babies. I still do the breeding, nail trimming, medical care such as wormings etc. Lexi will just not have the time to devote to the dogs anymore.

This brings us to the next reason. My time is stretched thin as it is with homeschooling and raising our family. My husband and I would like to step it up with my soap business. We have several things coming up in the spring that I need to prepare for and that's just the beginning.

We are all sad since the dogs are such a big part of our lives. Here is Mika, one of our older girls during her last pregnancy. She had problems delivering baby #2 so we had her spade during the c-section. She's Lexi's lap baby and of course is going nowhere.

This was baby #2. After the c-section, Mika had no milk so guess what? I became mama. He took the bottle great but it is exhausting to feed such a little one around the clock.

This will be a slow process of closing as we are going to be as particular about where our

adults go as we have always been with our puppies. We did not plan to have any more babies but while I was gone to Haiti we had a "oops!" breeding. This was supposed to be Tigerlily's rest heat as we only allow our girls to have one litter a year. She's due mid February so that's coming up.

We go in a couple of weeks to get xrays to see how many and that every one is lining up right. This will be our last litter. No more babies.
